Back-to-back meetings with Congress top brass & more: Packed schedule for DK Shivakumar in Delhi

The Congress leader held separate meetings with Kharge and Venugopal, focusing primarily on the upcoming Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting and future political developments in the state, sources said.

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar, widely tipped to be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, held crucial meetings with the party’s top leadership in the national capital on Friday.

Shivakumar, who arrived in Delhi on Thursday night, met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal were also present during the meeting.

The Vokkaliga leader held separate meetings with Kharge and Venugopal, focusing primarily on the upcoming Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting and future political developments in the state, sources said.

He also held discussions with caretaker Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Former Lok Sabha member D K Suresh joined his brother Shivakumar in the national capital. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said consultations with the Congress high command of cabinet formation were still continuing.

"Everything is being done as per the guidance of the high command. Nothing has been finalised so far. We have convened the CLP meeting tomorrow and our central leaders are expected to participate. Discussions with the high command are still going on,” he said.

The leader confirmed that all Congress legislators have been asked to remain in Bengaluru ahead of the CLP meeting, which is expected to play a decisive role in the party’s next leadership move in Karnataka.
