Supreme Court releases tender to manage 'monkey menace' in judges' residential bungalows & other premises

On Thursday, the Supreme Court issued tender notice for agencies to manage monkey menace in the residential bungalows of Judges.

Through a notification on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, the top court announced that it plans to invite online bids from vendors and agencies from the open market for "providing manpower as Monkey Chasers/ Handlers/ Repellers (Monkey Scarers) for driving away Monkeys from the Residential Bungalows of Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court of India including Supreme Court Guest House and Supreme Court Premises," for a period of two years.

The arrangement is suggested for a period of two years, and the tender document mentioned that the personnel will be deployed across around 35 to 40 residential bungalows of judges located within an approximate radius of 10 kilometers from the location of the Supreme Court of India.

The order also stated that the requirement of manpower may increase or decrease during the contractual period depending on needs of operation.

The responsibilitues of the trained personnel include safely detering monkeys and to prevent risks of nuisance or safety within the designated residential and institutional premises, LiveLaw reported.
