'Empty cylinders, empty promises': Opposition MPs stage protest in Parliament House complex over LPG crisis in India

Amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and the resultant LPG crisis, the Indian Parliament House witnessed a protest by several Opposition MPs. Holding banners and placards, reading, 'LPG gayab' and 'Empty Cylinders, Empty Promises', the leaders participated in the protest over the gas supply crunch near the Makar Dwar of Parliament.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP(SP)'s Supriya Sule, AAP's Atishi, SP's Dharmendra Yadav, CPI-ML's Sudama Prasad, DMK's T Sumathy, and JMM'S Mahua Maji were among others who raised slogans questioning the government over the crisis.

"Narendra Modi ji, who used to say that he has a 56-inch chest, has surrendered to Trump, and the people of Delhi and the country are suffering the consequences of it," said LoP Atishi while speaking to news agency PTI.

"We were always up for discussion; government's behaviour with Iran reason for LPG crisis”, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav stated.

The government has reportedly stepped up efforts to streamline gas distribution and ease supply pressures, directing faster processing of city gas projects while increasing allocations of commercial LPG to key sectors amid a challenging geopolitical environment.
