<p>Ahmedabad: Lauding the Gujarat police for nabbing the 'serial killer' who murdered eight persons in several states including Gujarat, the minister of state for home, Harsh Sanghavi, on Tuesday instructed the police to build a strong case against the accused.</p>.<p>Speaking at an event to felicitate the police personnel who apprehended Rahul Jat alias Bholu, a resident of Haryana, the minister said the accused has allegedly confessed to killing two more persons during interrogation, taking the number of his victims to eight.</p>.<p>Sanghavi added that besides eight cases of death and rape, Bholu also committed 13 other crimes like truck theft, assault on government servants, among others.</p>.'Serial killer' with cases in several states held in Gujarat for rape-murder of teen girl.<p>"Had the Gujarat police not caught him, it is difficult to estimate how many more crimes he would have committed," the minister said. </p>.<p>Sanghavi distributed Rs12 lakh as a reward to a team of 172 policemen.</p>.<p>Bholu was arrested by Valsad police who were investigating the death of a 19-year-old girl whose body was found near the Udvada railway station. She was on her way home from tuition when she was allegedly raped and murdered.</p>.<p>The police scanned over 2,000 CCTV footage collected from five railway stations including Udvada, Valsad, Vapi, and Surat.</p>.<p>During an investigation, the police found out about Bholu's criminal past and apprehended him at Vapi station.</p>.<p>Barely a day before his arrest, he had robbed and killed a woman on a train near Secunderabad railway station in Telangana. He is reported to have told the police that he was behind the rape and murder of a woman on a Kanniyakumari-bound train near Solapur railway station in Maharashtra.</p>.<p>Also, he killed a passenger in Karnataka and stabbed to death an elderly man on the Katihar Express near Howrah railway station in West Bengal.</p>
