<p>Ahmedabad: In a joint operation, the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/indian-coast-guard">Indian Coast Guard (ICG)</a> and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) seized 311 kg of narcotics worth about Rs1,800 crore in a mid-sea operation off the Gujarat coast. </p><p><br>The crew members of the suspected foreign boat were said to have escaped the agencies after dumping the consignment in the sea. The ICG boat recovered the consignment which weighed about 300 kg. </p><p><br>"In an overnight operation on April 12 and 13, Indian Coast Guard undertook an intelligence based anti-narcotics operation at sea jointly with the Gujarat ATS. More than 300 kg of narcotics worth approx Rs 1800 crore has been seized," the ICG said in a press statement.</p><p>It said that the operation was based on a "corroborated input from Gujarat ATS. An ICG ship from the Coast Guard Region (West), which was on multi-mission deployment off North Maharashtra/ South Gujarat area, was diverted and intercepted an attempted trans-shipment in proximity of the notional International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). </p>.Gujarat: Over 65 arrested in two weeks for procuring firearms on fake licenses from North Eastern states.<p>The ICG ship identified the suspect boat and on realising the approaching ICG ship, the suspected boat's crew members reportedly started dumping the narcotics consignment in the sea and started to flee towards the IMBL.<br>The ICG ship deployed its sea boat immediately for recovery of the jettisoned consignment whilst commencing a hot chase of the suspect boat.</p><p><br>"The proximity of IMBL and the initial separation between the ICG ship and the boat at the time of its detection helped the perpetrator to evade interception before it crossed over the IMBL within a short time," the ICG stated in the release. </p><p>The agencies had to abort the chase as the suspected boat reportedly crossed over the International Maritime Borderline. The seized narcotics consignment was brought to Porbandar by the ICG ship for further investigations.</p><p>Meanwhile, ATS officials said that since 2018 till present, 20 such cases have been registered and over 5,454 kg of drugs, whose market value is said to be over Rs 10,000 crore, were seized in mid-sea operations. In these cases, a total of 163 suspects were arrested that included 77 Pakistani nationals, 34 Iranians, four Afghans and two Nigerians. </p>
