<p>Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the developmental journey of Jammu and Kashmir, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in 2014, will move forward relentlessly despite recent provocations along the border.</p><p>Addressing a gathering in the border district of Poonch after distributing appointment letters to the family members of victims killed in Pakistan shelling, Shah reassured the people of the Union Territory that the recent disruption to progress was only a “momentary pause.”</p><p>He emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to peace, prosperity, and security in the region.</p><p>“The progress of Jammu and Kashmir will not be derailed. The Prime Minister’s vision for a developed, peaceful UT will be fulfilled,” Shah declared.</p>.Jammu and Kashmir High Court issues notice to Centre over dismissal of CRPF man who married Pakistani cousin.<p>The Home Minister said the administration is currently assessing the extent of damage in affected areas, including Poonch, and assured the victims’ families of the Centre’s full support. “While no compensation or job can truly compensate for the loss of loved ones, this initiative is a gesture of solidarity from the J&K administration, the central government, and the entire country,” he said.</p><p>Shah also revealed details of “Operation Sindoor,” a recent military operation in which, he said, the Indian Army destroyed terrorist infrastructure across the border. He clarified that the targets were terrorist camps, not civilians or Pakistani security forces. In retaliation, Pakistan launched shelling into civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including religious sites, Shah added.</p><p>He said the Indian Armed Forces responded forcefully by destroying nine Pakistani air bases, compelling Islamabad to request a ceasefire. “India will not tolerate terrorism on its soil. Our response will be strong and decisive,” Shah warned.</p><p>Reiterating India’s policy on Pakistan, Shah said there can be no dialogue until Pakistan halts support to terrorism. “Terror and trade cannot go together. Blood and water cannot flow together. This is our firm stand, and we will combat every act of terrorism with full strength,” he said.</p><p>Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Shah commended the people of Jammu and Kashmir for standing united against terrorism. “The way people rose in defiance against terror sends a powerful message: such acts will not be tolerated,” he said.</p><p>The visit by the Home Minister comes at a time of heightened tensions along the border and is seen as a reaffirmation of the Centre’s resolve to maintain development and security in Jammu and Kashmir simultaneously.</p>
