JEE Advanced 2026 results out: Shubham Kumar secures AIR 1, over 56,000 qualify India's 'toughest exam'

More than 56,000 candidates have qualified in the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2026, the results of which were announced on Monday.

A total of 56,880 candidates cleared the country's toughest examination for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Among them, 10,107 are female candidates.

Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone secured the top position in the Common Rank List (CRL), scoring 330 out of a possible 360 marks.

Arohi Deshpande, also from the IIT Delhi zone, emerged as the highest-ranked female candidate. She secured an All India Rank of 77 in the Common Rank List with a score of 280 marks.

The examination was conducted on May 17, 2026, with 1,79,694 candidates appearing for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Kabeer Chhillar secured the second rank with 329 marks, while Jatin Chahar finished third after scoring 319 marks.

Expressing his happiness after securing the top rank, Shubham Kumar said he had spent the last two years preparing for the examination and was hopeful of achieving a strong result.

He said, “I had been preparing for JEE Advanced for the past two years, and I was hopeful that my hard work would help me secure a good rank. Now that I have secured All India Rank 1, I feel very happy."
