<p>Khunti, Jharkhand: A traditional village head was shot and hacked to death in Jharkhand's Khunti district, police said on Sunday.</p>.<p>The incident took place in Kadetubid village in Marangdha police area around 11 pm on Saturday, they said.</p>.<p>The deceased was identified as Balaram Munda, a tribal village head of Landup panchayat.</p>.<p>Khunti Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Toppo said that around 10-12 people were allegedly involved in the incident.</p>.162 students trapped in inundated residential school in Jharkhand after heavy rain, rescued.<p>"Some suspects have been detained. The police are conducting raids to arrest the other accused," he said.</p>.<p>According to villagers, around 12 armed men barged into Balaram's house, and after an argument, opened fire at him and hacked him to death with a sharp weapon.</p>.<p>Former minister and senior BJP leader Neelkanth Singh Munda said Balaram was not only a traditional village head but also a BJP worker and a two-time member of the panchayat samiti.</p>.<p>"The state's law and order has crumbled. If a village head is not safe, who will take guarantee of the security of the common man," Munda asked.</p>
