26 of 33 crest gates installed at Tungabhadra Board dam, remaining to be fixed by month-end

Hosapete (Vijayanagar district): The work to replace the old and obsolete crest gates of Tungabhadra reservoir has gathered pace. As on April 11, 26 new crest gates have been installed while the work to fix three more gates is underway, according to Tungabhadra Board officials.

The TB Board sources said, the old gates have been completely removed. The fabrication of one gate is going on in Hosapete. By the end of this month, the remaining seven crest gates will be fixed, the sources added.

After the gate number 19 gave in in August 2024, the dam authorities decided to replace all 33 old crest gates with new ones to manage the spillway system.
