<p> With just a week of rain, the roads in Madikeri have changed their colour. <br />The pothole-filled roads have been causing inconvenience to the users. Due to the poor quality of work, the Junction in front of Kaveri Kalakshetra is filled with potholes. Barring a few concrete roads in the town, all other asphalted road are filled with potholes. With a lack of stormwater drains, water flows on the road itself, thus aggravating the problem. <br /><br /></p>.<p>With the water flowing on the road, vehicles splash water on pedestrians with muddy water and cause inconvenience to the office-goers, schoolchildren and other general public. Water puddles have formed on the concrete road in front of City Municipal Council (CMC) building. <br /><br />Due to lack of maintenance of drains from Raja Seat to Aravind Motors, the water flows on the road and thus damaged the road. On the other hand, the road connecting Remand Home in new layout is narrow. Without storm water drains, water puddles are created on the stretch. Even though the CMC is aware of the problem, no measures have been taken to set right the problem. The streetlights on the stretch leading to Dairy Farm never function during night. As a result, women and children have to use torchlight from their mobilephone while heading towards their home during night. <br /><br />Regarding the apathy of the CMC officials, resident Devaiah said, “Are they not aware that weeds should be removed and drains should be cleared before the onset of monsoon? The CMC has not taken any precautionary measures for monsoon. The officials do not listen to our demands.” <br /></p>
