<p>Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta criticised state Home Minister G Parameshwara for announcing the setting up of an anti-communal task force. </p><p>Capt Chowta questioned the anti-communal task force, drawing parallels to the controversial Communal Violence Bill proposed by Sonia Gandhi. </p><p>“That bill, in the name of communal harmony, sought to single out and target Hindu voices. This so-called task force smells no different—it reeks of the same appeasement agenda,” he said and warned that any attempt to impose such an agenda-driven force on the region will be firmly resisted.</p> .Karnataka to establish anti-communal task force to curb violence in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi.<p>He also criticised the Home Minister for making announcements without involving any of the local elected representatives. “It is absolutely undemocratic and disrespectful that without taking any of the people’s representatives into consultation, Home minister has apparently “taken stock” of the sensitive situation in coastal Karnataka,” he said. Chowta questioned the Congress government’s shifting stance—from initially calling Suhas’s murder a case of personal or gang rivalry to now branding it as “communal.”</p><p>“This is not the India of the Congress era where Hindus could be taken for a ride, their rights trampled upon and appeasement wrapped in policy decisions be thrust down their throats," Chowta said. </p><p>“And now, instead of confronting the real threat, the Congress government wants to do a cover-job by branding the entire region as communal." he added.</p> .<p><strong>Practically difficult, says CPM</strong></p><p>CPI(M) Dakshina Kannada district secretary Muneer Katipalla said that establishing an 'anti-communal task force' is practically difficult to achieve. "Controlling communalism and communal forces is not something that can be done solely by the police. Fighting against it means working with alternative programmes in social and political fields," Muneer said.</p>
