Davanagere bypolls: R Ashoka accuses Congress of using money power to win

He said, 'The Centre is providing rice to the poor, not the state. Only the bag belongs to the state government.'

Davangere: Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress saying that the grand old party was banking on money power to win the bypoll to Davangere South.

Campaigning for the party nominee Srinivas Dasakariappa at Hadadi, Ashoka said, "Siddaramaiah has said that he will make the poor win. He has indirectly appealed to the voters to vote for the BJP nominee. Siddaramaiah is not 'anna ramaiah', he is a 'sullu ramaiah'."

"The Centre is providing rice to the poor, not the state. Only the bag belongs to the state government," he said.

He said, "The entire Congress government is here to defeat BJP's common worker (Srinivas Dasakariappa)... The Congress leaders have come here with cash bags. Three MLAs and ministers have been deputed for each booth to distribute the money to voters," he charged.

Reacting to BJP leader's charge that Congress leaders have come here with cash bags, KPCC president D K Shivakumar dared the saffron party leaders to lodge a complaint on suitcases/money bags.
