JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda on Saturday said that lawlessness had prevailed during the Congress regime in the state and that he would expose the same if his party comes to power.
Addressing the party workers after inaugurating a convention at Gandhinagar in the city, Gowda said that while the Congress government was busy "looting" Bengaluru, the law and order situation had taken a hit. Though the crime rate had spiked in the city with daylight robberies and murders, the police had turned a blind eye to the same.
"As chief minister I had come down heavily on those who were looting Bengaluru. But this government is blatantly looting the city. Crimes have increased and people have lost their peace of mind. If the JD(S) comes to power, it will expose those who have indulged in rampant corruption. I will not spare these people. God has given me the strength to bring the party back to power," he added.
Attacking the ruling Congress for "misusing" around Rs 650 crore of state funds for its campaigns as part of Siddaramaiah's state tour, Gowda said that the government's only achievement was corruption.
