28-year-old factory worker ends life in Bengaluru after live-in partner mocks his finances

Bengaluru: A 28-year-old garment factory employee died by suicide after his live-in partner allegedly harassed him by repeatedly telling him to leave as he could not “maintain” her expenses. They lived in Rajagopalnagar.

The deceased has been identified as Thippeswamy C, a native of Chitradurga. Police said he had met Priyanka, a native of Davanagere, through Instagram. Both were working at the same garment factory and had been in a live-in relationship for the past two months.

Police said Thippeswamy’s body was found hanging at their rented house on Friday evening when Priyanka returned from work. She alerted the police after finding him dead.

Investigations revealed that the couple had introduced themselves as husband and wife to the house owner before renting the house. Priyanka was reportedly married and had allegedly left her husband. She had become addicted to reels and was ignoring Thippeswamy.

According to a complaint filed by Thippeswamy’s family, Priyanka allegedly subjected him to mental harassment and frequently asked him to move out, claiming he was unable to bear her expenses. Distressed over the alleged harassment, Thippeswamy allegedly took the extreme step, the complaint stated.

Based on the complaint, Rajagopalnagar police have registered a case of abetment to suicide, and further investigations are on.
