Accidental death turns out to be revenge murder, Bengaluru cops arrest 3 including minor

Police said the deceased worked as a shepherd and had assaulted one of the accused for trying to steal sheep. In revenge, he ganged up with his friends and attacked Mallapura

Bengaluru: The police have arrested three people, including a minor, for murdering a 33-year-old man near Amruthahalli in the northeastern part of the city. 

The deceased has been identified as Anjanappa Mallapura. He was found dead on June 23 near a vacant land near Akashavani Nagar. The police initially thought he had fallen and suffered head injuries. However, the post-mortem report revealed that he was beaten to death. 

According to the police, Mallapura was an alcoholic and had separated from his wife. He did odd jobs and often roamed the streets. The police thought he had fallen in a drunken state. 

But after the post-mortem report, the police reviewed CCTV footage of the vicinity and arrested three people — Prem Kumar, 18, Darshan Nanjunda, 20, and the minor. 

According to the police, Mallapura worked as a shepherd and had assaulted Kumar for trying to steal sheep. In revenge, Kumar ganged up with his friends and attacked Mallapura with sticks and coconut shells on June 23.
