Bengaluru GAFX 2026: Asia's largest animation show opens today

Bengaluru: The Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, along with the Association of Bangalore Animation Industry (ABAI), is organising the 7th edition of Bengaluru GAFX 2026. The event is touted to be Asia’s largest annual conference and exhibition for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, XR and immersive and interactive content, and opens on February 27, and closes on March 1, at Hotel Lalit Ashok here.

The summit will bring together creators, technologists, investors, policymakers, studios, education leaders and industry bodies from India and abroad, reinforcing Karnataka’s position as a leading hub for the AVGC-XR and creative technology ecosystem. It will be inaugurated by CM Siddaramaiah and DyCM DK Shivakumar, along with actor Sudeep, and Rajan Navani, President, IDGS and Founder & CEO, Jetsynthesys.

A major highlight of GAFX 2026 will be the first-ever exclusive behind-the-scenes showcase of Kantara: Chapter 1, offering audiences and professionals a rare look into the making of one of India’s most-anticipated cinematic projects. For the first time, GAFX will also present a deep dive into the making of the Oscar-nominated animated short film Cardboard by DNEG Animation, as well as a craft session on the Oscar-nominated feature The Lost Bus by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), said IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
