<p>The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Chennai Region, declared the results for Class X All India Secondary School Examination on Sunday. A total of 1,75,071 students registered for the examination, and 1,74,965 wrote the exam. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Several schools from the City had a large number of their students securing top honours in the results. Delhi Public School, North, for example, had 72 out of their 258 students secure a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10.<br /><br />“I’m really happy. All that I had worked for has paid off,” said David Mathew, a student from the school who secured a 10 CGPA. “I didn’t go for any tuition and prepared consistently for the exam, seeking a break only in music. I will take up science,” he said. <br /><br />Bharath Purpipli of Kendriya Vidalaya, DRDO, also scored a 10 CGPA. “I am thrilled with my marks. It was quite unexpected!” he said. <br /><br />Bharath claims to have studied only half-an-hour everyday to achieve the feat. He hopes to become a biologist. <br /><br />Bharath is one of the 46 students from his school who got a perfect 10 CGPA out of the 188 who sat for the examination. <br /><br />Meanwhile, 213 students have declared as Eligible for Improvement of Performance. Students are assessed based on the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation system, taking into account their performance in Classes 9 and 10. <br /><br />Both scholastic and co-scholastic activities are considered for the evaluation. Students are given grades in individual subjects, which add up to their overall CGPA. Those who get grades between A1 and D are declared qualified while students who secure E1 and E2 are given an opportunity in the improvement examination.</p>
