<p>Bengaluru: BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath on Thursday instructed officials to take precautionary measures to mitigate monsoon-related issues in the city.</p>.<p>In an interdepartmental meeting, he directed officers to complete pending works in Sai Layout, Pai Layout, Kendriya Vihar Apartment, Kogilu Cross, Iblur Junction, Abbigere Kere Kodi, Mysuru Road, Gali Anjaneya Swamy Temple, and other areas before the onset of the monsoon.</p>.<p>"There are 209 flood-affected areas in the city, including 11 newly identified areas, in addition to the 198 existing ones. Necessary measures have already been taken in 166 locations. Appropriate action must be taken in the remaining 43 flood-prone areas to prevent any problems," he said, instructing officials to visit affected areas and resolve issues promptly.</p>.<p>The traffic police have identified 180 waterlogging spots on major roads within the BBMP limits. </p>.<p>Giri Nath directed engineers to inspect these locations and take necessary steps to prevent waterlogging. He also instructed them to remove waste near road gratings to ensure uninterrupted rainwater flow into the side drains.</p>.Pre-monsoon rain breaks Bengaluru's heat spell.<p>Also, officers in the disaster management section must coordinate with zonal commissioners and make necessary preparations in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). </p>.<p>Bescom and BWSSB officials should be deployed at BBMP control rooms before the monsoon begins, with a department-wise list of officials and SDRF and NDRF officers prepared immediately.</p>.<p>"Stormwater drains should be regularly cleaned using JCBs. A two-month plan should be drawn up, including a detailed list of cleaning tasks to ensure smooth water flow across the city," he stated, adding that 30 teams have been deployed to clear fallen trees and branches.</p>
