<p>Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to establish its own survey wing, having requested the Revenue Department to depute 114 officers, including surveyors, supervisors, and deputy directors.</p>.<p>This new division, with dedicated offices in all eight zones, aims to safeguard BBMP properties, including lakes, parks, and vacant lands, from encroachment.</p>.BBMP no more? It could happen anytime soon,” he said.</p>.<p>The survey wing will comprise 209 employees in total. Of these, 114 will be deputed from the Survey Settlement and Land Records Department under the Revenue Department. Additionally, 11 staff members, including first- and second-division assistants, will be recruited as per the BBMP’s cadre and recruitment rules. The remaining 84 positions will be filled through an outsourcing agency, officials said.</p>.<p>Each zonal office will have a survey unit led by an assistant director of land records, supported by supervisors and surveyors. These officials will report to the BBMP Special Commissioner (Revenue) and the respective zonal commissioner.</p>.<p>The BBMP decided to establish its own survey wing as it has so far relied on the Revenue Department for property surveys, particularly for lakes and stormwater drains frequently subject to encroachment.</p>.<p>Initially, the survey wing will focus on mapping the BBMP-owned properties to secure them for the future. Officials said the new division will also play a crucial role in land acquisition for public projects, issuing transferable development rights (TDR) and resolving boundary disputes.</p>
