Bengaluru: CCB arrests man for illegally selling IPL tickets

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru police have arrested a man for allegedly illegally selling IPL tickets.

CCB's probe has revealed that 181 tickets of various denominations worth Rs 17.52 lakh were purchased from TicketGenie organisation and illegally sold to the public in black by the arrested suspect at a higher price.

CCB acted on inputs that on April 15, the suspect had purchased the tickets for the match between RCB and LSG with the intention of making profits illegally by selling them to the public for an exorbitant amount.

Continuing the investigation into this case, the police interrogated a person who worked at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and was found to be selling cricket match tickets to the public at a higher price.

"During the investigation, it was found that 50 tickets for the cricket match between RCB and LSG were purchased from TicketGenie in the name of Swastik Heavy Engineering and Industrial Automation Consultant Company, and another 50 tickets were purchased in the name of Dharani Computers Company, which were then sold to the public in the black market at a higher price through the accused person," the police said in a statement.

It was also found that during the cricket match between RCB and CSK on March 28, another person had purchased a total of 81 tickets worth Rs 6,60,000 in the name of Swastik Heavy Engineering and Industrial Automation Consultant Company, and the suspect had sold them to the public at a higher price.
