Bengaluru: Congress functionary accused of inappropriately touching minor

Bengaluru: A local Congress functionary in Bengaluru is accused of assaulting and inappropriately touching a minor girl.

He was allegedly in a relationship with her married mother. 

Anand P alias Anand Naidu, the general secretary of Bengaluru North District Congress Committee, and the woman Suvarna CK are also accused of assaulting the girl and her brother with a knife and stick. The girl also alleged that she was bitten by her mother.

The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. 

The case was filed following a complaint by the minor's father. 

"Anand P has touched my 16-year-old daughter inappropriately. I was also assaulted for questioning their relationship," the FIR quoted the complainant, 40, as saying. 

The complainant claimed that Anand was in a relationship with his wife and the suspect had transferred the complainant's property to her name without his consent. 

Police sources said the suspect was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
