Bengaluru cops recover drugs worth over Rs 12 crore

Bengaluru: In a sustained operation, Bengaluru police have stopped drug smuggling efforts and recovered over Rs 12 crore worth of narcotic substances.

In the first case, the Narcotics Control Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru police arrested two interstate drug peddlers — Ashwin and Mubeena, originally from Kerala — and recovered from them drugs worth Rs 11.50 crore.

The seizures included 8,335 LSD strips, 5 kg of hydro ganja and 534 grams of charas. The two were arrested following a raid at their rented accomodation in Bagalur.

“Both suspects had been residing in Bengaluru for the past year and were involved in an organised illegal drug distribution network. They were receiving narcotic substances from a Kerala-based individual residing in Thailand and distributing them to customers as per his instructions, thereby earning illegal profits. A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act at Bagalur Police Station,” the police said in a statement.

In a separate case, Whitefield police arrested a suspect and recovered from him 27.2 kg of ganja, 3.200 kg of hashish oil worth an estimated Rs 55 lakh. The intention was to earn quick money by selling these narcotic substances to the public, including IT/BT employees, the police said, adding that the suspect was transporting the drugs for distribution and sale.In another operation, based on credible inputs, 1.5 kg of hydro ganja was seized.

“The contraband had been smuggled via international parcel services and cleverly concealed inside chocolate and biscuit boxes to avoid suspicion. The estimated value is Rs 1.5 crore. A case has been registered at KG Nagar Police Station under the NDPS Act, and efforts are ongoing to trace the accused,” the police said.

Action against illegal stays

Two foreign female nationals who were allegedly overstaying their visas were apprehended within the limits of the Mico Layout Police Station and handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and subsequently sent to the Foreigners Detention Centre as per legal procedures.
