Bengaluru East Corporation to instal solar systems on its offices

Bengaluru: In a bid to achieve self-sufficiency in power generation, Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) has decided to instal solar systems atop roofs of its offices. 

“Officials were instructed to prepare detailed project report and funding proposal for installing solar panels on all city corporation buildings to promote energy self-sufficiency,” a statement by it said. The corporation owes Bescom lakhs of rupees in power dues.

“The MD of Bescom informed us that dues of Rs 1,526 crore are pending from GBA and city corporations. We asked Bescom officials to provide consolidated details of arrears up to Sept 1, 2025 and separate list of arrears after that,” said D S Ramesh, commissioner, BECC.

Ramesh asked officials to follow up with government and get clearance from forest department for acquiring land for widening Panathur Road and for railway overbridge. On damage sustained by service roads on stretch of the Outer Ring Road between Silk Board Junction and KR Puram owing to overflowing rainwater, Ramesh instructed officials to co-ordinate with BMRCL and inspect plumbing on flyovers and Metro lines.
