<p>The last day of filing of nominations turned out to be a tame affair with the Malleswaram bomb blast throwing campaigning out of gear. The campaigning was suspended for the rest of the day in the area.<br /><br /></p>.<p>While some rejoiced over their nominations, including BJP candidate Jagadish Kumar and Congress candidate Rehman Sharief, who are contesting from Hebbal, others like R Ashoka, who is also the Home Minister, rushed to the blast site within minutes of filing their papers.<br /><br />Scheduled to attend a press conference with Dhananjay Kumar at their party office in Malleswaram, KJP leader Shobha Karandlaje, contesting from Rajajinagar, too was at the spot.<br /><br />BJP sitting MLA C N Ashwathnarayan dropped his campaigning in Gayathrinagar and rushed to party headquarters. He said: “Who would have imagined that an act, such as this (blast), would disrupt the tranquility of this constituency?” <br /><br />He suspended his campaigning for the day. <br /><br />For B K Shivram, Congress candidate, it was a bigger blow. “I and my close associate, Narayan Reddy, were campaigning in Mathikere. It was concern for Reddy’s family that drove us to suspend our campaign. Fortunately, no major injuries were sustained by his family members,” he said.</p>
