<p>BMRCL spokesperson B L Y Chavan said as the last step in obtaining safety certification to commence commercial services, the Corporation has submitted an application to the Railway Board through the Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) to permit it to start the commercial operation of the train.<br /><br />The application is made under the Bangalore Metro Railway (Opening of Public Carriage for Passengers) Rules, 2011 and was supported by the speed certificate issued by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO).<br /><br />The certificate said: “Based on the satisfactory results of the trials, BMRCL coaches are fit for operation on the standard gauge of Namma Metro on Reach 1 at a speed up to 75 kmph on straight tracks.”<br /><br />The RDSO had conducted speed and emergency brake distance trials in the month of June on Reach 1 tracks with Metro coaches.<br /><br />Now, the Railway Board would ask the CMRS to conduct the safety inspection, who will then conduct a detailed inspection of the rolling stock, viaduct, tracks, stations and other installations on Reach 1 before submitting a report to the Railway Board.<br /><br />If it files a positive report that Metro could be opened for passenger transport, the Board would recommend to the Ministry of Railways to permit commercial operations on Reach 1.</p>
