A bus shelter was carted away from right under the nose of the police in northern Bengaluru’s Sadashivanagar.
Police mistook the thieves for BBMP officials and let them go away. They realised the folly only after Praveen Lingaiah, a BBMP executive engineer, filed a complaint about the missing bus shelter.
The bus shelter, located opposite the Sadashivanagar police station, was constructed in a public-private partnership
at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh.
A BBMP official said they found out about the theft while inspecting bus shelters that were more than 10 years old.
He suspected people from the scrap business. “We have constructed a new bus shelter at the same spot,” he
added.
A similar incident was reported in Nandini Layout two months ago.
