CM Siddaramaiah launches Dr Ballal's biography, praises lifelong commitment to patient welfare

Bengaluru: The biography of renowned healthcare leader and nephrologist Dr H Sudarshan Ballal, 'Leading with Compassion', was launched on Monday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who spoke at the event, praised Dr Ballal's lifelong commitment to patient welfare. "He always has the patient's welfare at heart."

"During Covid-19, his calm presence and guidance were invaluable. He has consistently shown concern for the depressed classes and the needy. I urge young healthcare professionals to emulate Dr Ballal’s kindness and gentleness with patients."

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao added a touch of admiration, saying, "Maybe he should join public life. He has all the qualities of a true leader."

Dr H S Ballal, Dr Sudarshan's elder brother and Pro-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, recalled anecdotes from their childhood, remarking how the family had hoped for a girl after four boys, but young Sudarshan soon became the family’s favourite.

He recounted how, even when down with measles, Dr Sudarshan's dedication led him to attend his gold medal ceremony, using lactamine to cover the rashes before receiving the award from TMA Pai.
