<p>Terming demonetisation an ‘ill-conceived and poorly-implemented decision’, the members of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and several other organisations held a protest in front of Reserve Bank of India here on Thursday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>“Demonetisation is anti-people and a political gimmick to hide the failures of the Central government. The implications are neither studied nor discussed. It has been done in violation of the RBI Act. This shows the dictatorial attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” alleged Clifton D Rozario, who led the protesters. <br /><br />He questioned the government’s move to bring in demonetisation on the one hand while making PSUs waive loans of the rich on the other hand. “We condemn such an anti-people move by the government,” he said. <br /><br />The protesters demanded immediate issuance of Rs 500 denomination notes, extension of deadline to submit old notes, release of list of Indians who have accounts in Swiss banks, Panama and in other countries, recovery of money from corporates who owe more than Rs 7.5 lakh crore, introduction of a strong Lokpal, measures to strengthen CBI, utilisation of black money for universal healthcare and universal education and electoral reforms.<br /><br /> The protestors criticised Congress and BJP politicians for attending the lavish wedding of Janardhan Reddy's daughter. <br /><br />The police detained a few protesters when they attempted to picket the RBI office but released them later. <br />DH News Service</p>
