Don't touch electric wires, poles during rain: Bescom

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Electrical Supply Company (Bescom) has advised citizens to exercise caution and follow electrical safety measures during the pre-monsoon showers.

Bescom, in a statement, advised citizens not to approach slanted or broken electric poles, broken electric lines, or places where tree branches have fallen on electric poles due to heavy wind and rain.

Citizens can contact the nearest Bescom sub-division or call the Bescom helpline 1912 if they see any electrical accidents or fallen electrical lines. 

“During gusty wind and rain, there is a high possibility of electric wires snapping and falling. Bescom has cautioned the public not to stand under trees through which electric lines pass and not to move around near electric transformers during rains,” a statement by Bescom said.

Consumers can also send photos and videos related to electricity problems along with their messages to WhatsApp helpline numbers.
