<p>Five drunken men stabbed a bar bender to death at Siddhartha Nagar in Madiwala police station limits on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Sundar, 42, a resident of the same area.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to Madiwala police, a group of street dancers had come to Siddhartha Nagar to perform. Needing electricity for light and music system, they requested Selvi, the in-charge of a local anganwadi (childcare centre) for power.<br /><br />Selvi, sister of Sundar, provided light for the performance. As the show was on, around 9.15 pm, a group of five drunken youth – Dingri, Lal, Naga alias Karapudi, Shashi and an unidentified youth – arrived at the spot and began teasing the girls who were dancing and urging them to play a particular song for them to jive along. <br /><br />They started a ruckus disturbing others around. Annoyed, Selvi requested them to leave, but when they did not oblige, she disconnected the power supply, angering the youth who then argued with her hurling stones and injuring her. An injured Selvi rushed to the police station to lodge a complaint.<br /><br />Sundar who learnt about the incident questioned the youth. They, however, started assaulting him with one of them pulling out a knife and stabbing him repeatedly before fleeing. Sundar was rushed to St John's Hospital where he died of his injuries at 2.30 am. His son Pratap has lodged a complaint with Madiwala police who have formed two teams to apprehend the suspects.<br /><br />Following tension in the area, security was beefed up, police said.<br /></p>
