<p class="title rtejustify">Former Vice-President B D Jatti’s son Danappa Jatti and daughter-in-law Lakshmi have alleged that an assistant commissioner of police and a sub-inspector demanded bribes to drop the charges against them over the death of a worker in the sewage treatment plant of their gated community in eastern Bengaluru. </p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The couple has approached Abdul Ahad, DCP, Whitefield, against ACP Sudhama Nayak and sub-inspector Somashekar.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Ahad said the couple hadn’t filed a formal complaint but added that he would check the facts and order an enquiry, if necessary. </p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">On May 24, 2017, a worker was asphyxiated while cleaning the blocked sewage plant in Jatti Dwarakamai Villas. Another worker was hospitalised. Police booked the Jattis for causing death by negligence. </p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The couple claimed that the ACP demanded Rs 5 lakh and the sub-inspector Rs 2 lakh to drop the charges against them. Though they paid up, their names were still included in the charge sheet. When the couple questioned the ACP, he demanded a plot of land to close the case.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The couple also alleged that the jurisdictional police station had refused to take their complaint against the ACP. </p>
