Four held for illegally selling IPL tickets for RCB vs CSK match in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In a special drive against IPL ticket black marketeering, Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested four people trying to sell tickets for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings match on Saturday.

The suspects had been selling the H and G stand tickets worth Rs 1,200 each for Rs 10,000, according to a senior CCB officer. The CCB’s special inquiry team has seized 32 match tickets worth Rs 38,400 from the suspects.

On Friday, the CCB received credible leads about a person selling IPL tickets on Pipeline Road near north Bengaluru’s Yeshwantpur and rushed to the spot. The officers caught Charan Raj red-handed and seized 12 tickets from him.

Further questioning of Charan revealed that he had more accomplices, and many of them were scheduled to sell tickets near the Shell petrol pump on Millers Road in central Bengaluru on the match day.

On Saturday, the CCB team caught three more suspects identified as Vinay, Venkatasai Kiran, and Harshavardhan near Millers Road and seized 20 more tickets. The investigations have continued to identify the source of tickets.

The crackdown was a part of the special drive that the Bengaluru police have taken up. Many people were caught around the M Chinnaswamy stadium, selling passes to the matches of RCB last month.
