Goods worth Rs 13 lakh stolen from warehouse in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Electronic goods worth Rs 13.18 lakh, including 17 personal coolers, were allegedly stolen from a warehouse in Mahadevapura. Interestingly, the CCTV cameras at the warehouse were not functioning when the theft took place, raising suspicion of an insider’s role, police said.

The complainant, Thomala Madhusudhan, a businessman from Kurnool, told the police that the missing stock was discovered during an audit conducted on May 2 at a warehouse operated by two private agencies.

The stolen items included televisions, air-conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and personal coolers. Police suspect the theft may have gone unnoticed due to the constant movement of goods in and out of the warehouse during peak business operations.

He checked with the warehouse employees before approaching the police on Friday. Based on the complaint, Mahadevapura police have registered a case against unknown persons and are verifying CCTV footage from neighbouring areas to trace the suspects.
