HC orders notice to K'taka govt, B'luru police, GBA in PIL filed by Rajajinagar Residents Welfare Association

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered notice to the state government, Bengaluru city police and the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) in a PIL filed by Rajajinagar 5th Block Residents Welfare Association.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice CM Poonacha has posted the matter to July 2 for further consideration.

The petitioner association sought directions to consider its representations regarding the issues faced by the residents on the conduct of the National Public School, West of Chord Road, Rajaji Nagar.

The petitioners stated that the school is using public addressing system throughout the day which disturbs the residents as several residents work from their homes and the noise levels create a nuisance in the locality.

The school is required to give priority to children residing in the locality which according to the petitioners is not being done by the school.

Thirdly, the petitioners raised the issue concerning school buses being parked outside the school which is causing congestion in the locality.

According to the petitioners, the school authority often conducts programmes and parent-teacher meetings without any prior intimation to the residents.

During such events, the residents go through difficulty for the entire day with buses, tempo travellers and parents’ vehicles parked in front of the houses in the locality.

The residents are regularly uploading traffic violations on Public Eye App, including violations such as parking on footpaths, parking at no parking zones area for the last four months, however the authorities are not taking any action, the petitioners said.
