It is a one-stop destination for those in search of book of all types. <br />Nai Sarak, meaning new street, connects the main Chandni Chowk Road to Chawri Bazaar and has a wholesale and retail market of mainly school and college textbooks. <br />The street has a historical significance and was built by British after the war of 1857. <br /><br />The street with thousands of buildings has shops in the ground floors specialises in books for children, for competitive examination, college and schools textbooks, available in different languages. Some shops even specialise in stationery items as well. <br /><br />One such shop in the market is Kingsley publishers Pvt Ltd. Started by Satpal Verma, it has grown to become one of the most reputed providers of children books, from nursery to Std V. Saurabh Verma, owner of the publishing house, says, “Our shop is more than 30 years old. Besides children books we also have dictionaries.” <br /><br />Another old name in the lane is Subhash Brothers, dealing in various kinds of school books. Chander Bajaj, the owner, says, “My grandfather started this shop in 1965. I belong to the third generation who is running the shop. He used to run a similar shop in Sargodha, Pakistan. After the Partition my grandfather came here and started this business.” The shop is also famous for different kinds of school bags.<br /><br />Nai Sarak has more than 200 publication houses. One of them is Dhruv Publications that provides books and is known for its solved examination papers. “We were previously dealing in retailing of books but now we are a publication,” says, Manish Jain, the owner.<br /><br />Known for inexpensive and second hand books, the market also houses a few wholesale shops of saris of pure cotton, silk and embroidered ones. The market today is a busy locality and customers of all age groups can be seen heading towards the shops that cater to their needs.</p>
