'I see saffron surge in Karnataka': PM Modi hails BJP's performance in Assembly polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday to officially inaugurate the 45th-anniversary celebrations of The Art of Living.

Prior to the opening, he was felicitated by BJP State President, B Y Vijayendra and other state leaders in the city.

Addressing a gathering, saying that he sees a saffron surge in Karnataka, he stated, "I have arrived in Bengaluru today at a time when discussions regarding election results are underway across the country."

"The formation of an NDA government in Puducherry for the second consecutive time, the formation of an NDA government in Assam for the third consecutive time, and in Bengal, the BJP receiving such a massive mandate for the very first time. Furthermore, just two weeks ago, the BJP achieved such a resounding victory in the Panchayat and local body elections in Gujarat that the Gujarat BJP broke all previous records," he added.

"People give BJP opportunity to run government again and again, whereas anti-incumbancy starts against Congress government within 6 months," he added.

On the topic of BJP's win in the state of West Bengal, he said, "We had only three BJP MLAs in West Bengal, but now we have over 200 legislators."

He had also said West Bengal Assembly polls victory also the victory of BJP workers in Karnataka.

"In Kerala, BJP MLAs numbers increased from 1 to 3, days are not far away when we will achieve majority," the Prime Minister further said during his address.

Speaking about the political situation in Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister said that Congress stabbed the DMK in the back at the very first opportunity, in a situation driven by lust.

"For twenty-five to thirty years, the Congress shared a close relationship with the DMK. Time and again, the alliance with the DMK pulled the Congress out of crises; indeed, the government it led for ten years before 2014 survived largely because of the DMK," he said.

"Yet, the very DMK that consistently worked for the betterment of the Congress was betrayed the moment the political winds shifted. Driven by its lust for power, the power-hungry Congress stabbed the DMK in the back at the very first opportunity. Now, Congress requires yet another party, one on whose back it can ride, to remain politically relevant," he further added.
