Shilpa Ganesh, who will be celebrating her birthday on July 12, says it’s also a celebration of a whole new person that she is now. She confesses that she adores her new role as producer and hopes to direct a movie someday. “My life has taken a complete turnaround. It has changed so much in the last three years. I couldn’t imagine myself working but now, I work for nothing less than ten hours a day. Taking Golden Movies forward is a challenge in itself,” Shilpa Ganesh told Metrolife.

Ganesh and Shilpa have just launched their second home production Cool — Sakkath Hot Maga. The two have always roped in the best from the industry for their home productions. If it was Anjana Sukhani and Yuvika Chaudhary for Maleyalli Jotheyalli, it’s now the turn of popular TV actress Aamna Sharief to play Ganesh’s love interest in Cool... “It’s another love story but not the usual run-of-the-mill one; but it’s surely going to be packaged differently.

Talking about her turning a producer, Shilpa says it hasn’t been easy. “I started working on our first home production four or five days after my delivery. It was stressful and people wondered why I was being so rude to myself. At a time when I needed complete rest, I worked long and hard,” she says. Shilpa hopes to dip her fingers into direction as well but first, she says she’d like to go abroad and do a course in film direction and production. “We should pick up the best of direction and production from the West and replicate it here in our country. They are professional and work around such big budget movies,” she observes.

Asked why she was importing the female lead for all their home productions from Bollywood, Shilpa says, “We always release our films in Mumbai and Hyderabad as well. And I would like to woo the non-Kannadigas to come and watch the film. We must have a whole new audience,” she reasons and adds, “people instantly connect with actors from North.”

Shilpa says she’d like to work on a horror film someday. “It’s going to be a horror film based on a love story. I am also looking to doing a big commercial film on the lines of Magadheera,” she says.
