<p>Karnataka government intends to illuminate Vidhan Soudha, the seat of the State Legislature and a key Bangalore landmark, using solar energy,according to Chairman of the Legislative Council D H Shankar Murthy.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Discussions are on in this regard, Shankar Murthy told reporters here today.<br /><br />Noting that tens of thousands of people visit Bangalore every day, the former Higher Education Minister argued that the imposing structure should be a treat to watch for tourists.<br /><br />The plan is to lit up Vidhan Soudha using solar energy and taking advantage of LED and other modern technologies, Shankar Murthy said.<br /><br />The proposal is to lit up Vidhan Soudha for one-and-half hours or two hours every day, he said.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Shankar Murthy also said it has been decided to instal a bronze statue of a "meditating" Mahatma Gandhi between Vidhan Soudha, and Vikas Soudha, an annexe of the former housing some of the Ministerial and legislative offices.<br /><br />The height of the statue would not be "less than 30 feet", he said quoting architects with whom he had a discussion.<br /><br />"We have overcome technical problems (vis-a-vis installing the statue)", he added.</p>
