<p>Jeena yahan marna yahan, iske siva jaana kahan echoed at the Qutab Minar lawns as Amit Verma, one of the naval officers sang the famous number in his ‘Raj Kapoor medley’ performance. <br /><br /></p>.<p>With the view of the historical monument in the background and an enthusiastic audience, the 18-member Indian Naval band performed on popular Bollywood and Hollywood numbers. <br /><br />In the run upto the Navy Day celebrated on December 4, marking the daring attack of small missile ships of ‘25th Killer squadron’ in Karachi during 1971 India-Pakistan war, charitable trust Friends of Heritage organised the Indian Armed Forces’ Naval symphonic orchestra. <br /><br />Using primarily wind and percussion instruments, the band enthralled the audience. <br />Beginning with military anthems including the famous Colonel Bogey March conducted by officer S Janakiraman, they proceeded to popular tracks like zoobi-doobi from film 3 Idiots and Vengaboys’ Shalala lala and concluded with A R Rahman’s patriotic tunes. <br /> <br />To spread awareness about the role of the service, the Indian Navy Symphonic Band concert was one of the events scheduled in the city during the Navy Week celebrations. <br /><br />Commodore Balbir K Munjal, Vishisht Seva Medal Station commander, Delhi naval area told Metrolife, “Music and orchestra are always a crowd-puller and that is what we have tried to do through these kinds of events. We have various celebrations in public <br />venues for awareness about the service in terms of how to enrol in it and what all events the navy does. It will only continue further as a picnic has been organised as part of Navy’s social responsibility for a group of children with disabilities and underprivileged children to be held on November 17 and 19 at the rail museum.”<br /><br />It was a “coincident” that the band performance was inaugurated by Commodore Munjal who has been part of the Missile vessel squadron for almost ten years. <br /></p>
