<p>A 32-year-old engineer was arrested by CK Achchukattu police on Wednesday for cheating several women claiming himself as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to police, Naveen, a native of Tumakuru was arrested based on a complaint filed by a victim. Naveen had completed his BE and MTech, and was jobless.<br /><br />He uploaded his profile on various matrimonial websites claiming himself as a sub-inspector with CBI. He promised several women to marry them, but cheated them by taking money, said the police.<br /><br />A victim had lodged complaint stating that Naveen contacted her through a matrimonial website claiming himself to be a CBI officer. They also met and he showed her the identity card which convinced her that he was working for CBI. He told her that he wanted money for some emergency and also promised marry her in a couple of months. The victim gave him Rs 4.15 lakh. <br /><br />Later, Naveen started dodging the victim whenever she asked him to meet her. After a few months, he told her that he was not interested marrying her and asked her to stop troubling him. The victim demanded him to return the money for which he refused, the police said.<br /><br />A senior police officer said, “A couple of years ago, he was arrested by Byatarayanapura and JJ Nagar police for cheating several people of their money by promising them to get jobs in public sector units. He also had made fake identity cards of various PSUs and claimed to an employee of those companies.” <br /></p>
