<p>Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered notice to the Lokayukta police in a petition challenging the arrest of a person allegedly involved in an extortion racket.</p>.<p>The petitioner, Chandrakala GK, said that her husband Ningappa Savant was arrested illegally by the Lokayukta police. Justice SR Krishna Kumar directed the counsel representing the Lokayukta police to file a response to the petition, while adjourning the hearing to Tuesday.</p>.<p>The counsel for the petitioner stated that though Ningappa was apprehended on May 31, 2025, from Hosadurga, the arrest was shown only on June 2, 2025.</p>.Karnataka High Court refuses to halt graft probe against Bescom engineer.<p>The advocate said that the Lokayukta police claimed Ningappa was arrested at Maruti Ground in Rajajinagar on June 2. However, CCTV footage from Hosadurga in Chitradurga district, produced before the court, clearly depicts that he was picked up at 9.30 pm on May 31 itself.</p>.<p>The petitioner stated that though she was given intimation of the arrest, the Lokayukta police have not provided the mandatory grounds for the arrest.</p>.<p>The Lokayukta FIR dated June 2 said that Ningappa was involved in extortion by blackmailing government officials and leaking advance information about raids.</p>
