LED lamps to replace conventional streetlights in North Bengaluru

Bengaluru:   Conventional streetlights in northern Bengaluru will soon be replaced with LED lamps, as the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has handed over the installation and maintenance works to new agencies.

The project to replace conventional streetlights with energy-efficient LED lamps and implement power-saving measures is being carried out across the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits. The BNCC has cancelled the previous maintenance contracts.

"The works are being executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with government approval. In this regard, the existing streetlight maintenance contracts in all wards under the Bengaluru North City Corporation limits, except wards 34, 35 and 36 of the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly constituency, have been cancelled with effect from April 30, 2026, and responsibility has been assigned to new maintenance agencies,” the BNCC said in a statement.

The agencies installing the LED streetlights will also handle maintenance works.

Citizens can directly contact the respective agencies and raise complaints with managers regarding streetlight-related grievances, it added.
