<p>Playwright, theatre director, author, actor, and filmmaker Manav Kaul is bringing his latest play ‘Pyaar Aadmi Ko Kabootar Bana Deta Hai’ to Bengaluru this weekend.</p>.<p>It is based on Kaul’s short story ‘Prem Kabootar’, which he wrote in 2004 and published in 2017. “Back when I was writing the story, I thought it could be made into a good play,” Kaul tells Metrolife. He got busy with other pursuits, and when the time came, he thought he should adapt it into a musical.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A coming-of-age story, the play follows three teenage friends and explores what happens when love breaches their “bro code”.</p>.Smell the coffee beans, Bengaluru; your favourite brew is getting pricey.<p class="bodytext">“It’s set in a time when love was expressed through letters. And when you got a letter back, it felt like the epitome of love. It’s set in the pre-Whatsapp, Instagram and cellphone era. I like that world a lot. I like such romance a lot,” he shares.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Bengaluru is one of his favourite cities to perform in, and he has staged all his plays here. “I even directed a Kannada play for Ranga Shankara called ‘Hakki Harutide Nodidira’,” he adds.
