Medicos killed in accident in Nelamangala

Two students of Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumakuru, were killed on the spot in an accident in the early hours of Sunday near Nelamangala.

The victims are Mohammad Ashique, 25 and Leena Maria, 26. Ashique was in the final year of dental course, while Leena was a second-year MBBS student. Ashique was from Kerala and was staying with his friends in Tumakuru, while Leena was from Hyderabad and was staying in a girls’ hostel. The duo were returning to Tumakuru in a car after attending a party hosted by their friend in Bengaluru. Ashique lost control over the speeding car, crashed against the median strip near Budihal Gate on National Highway - 4 around 2.15 am and came under the wheels of a truck. Due to impact of the accident, the two suffered serious injuries and were killed on the spot. The car was completely damaged.

The bodies were shifted to the Nelamangala government hospital for post-mortem. Rash and negligent driving caused the accident, said the police.
