MHA sanctions deployment of CISF for NATGRID Bengaluru campus

New Delhi: The NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid) campus in Bengaluru will now be protected by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), officials said on Sunday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned the deployment of 76 personnel for the task at the NATGRID campus in Bengaluru's Yelahanka, they said. The NATGRID headquarters in Delhi is already under CISF cover.

NATGRID is a critical national security infrastructure that aggregates data from multiple intelligence and law enforcement databases to support counter-terrorism operations.

The Yehalanka campus was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on 3 May,2022. Shah had then said that the government has entrusted the task of developing and operating a state-of-the-art and innovative IT platform for accessing information from the data collection organisations to NATGRID.

The services of NATGRID solution are available to 11 central agencies and police of all states and union territories. It will link user agencies with data holders, giving them access to real-time information needed for intelligence services and investigations.

Last week, the CISF took over security of the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, a cultural centre under the Ministry of External Affairs earlier known as 'Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra', in Delhi's Chanakyapuri area where 90 personnel are deployed.
