Stories of adorable bonds between humans and animals — much like the legendary loyalty of Hachiko — have long moved people and left them in tears. A similar emotional moment is now resonating online through a viral video from Karnataka.

The clip shows a monkey quietly sitting beside the lifeless body of an elderly woman during what appears to be her funeral. The scene that has left social media users deeply touched.

The incident reportedly took place in Bengaluru, where 85-year-old Parvatamma passed away on Monday (March 30) due to age-related illness.

In the now widely shared visuals, the monkey is seen resting near her body, appearing reluctant to leave. It neither shows aggression nor fear, but instead remains still. It visibly seems to be mourning the woman's demise.

According to reports, Parvatamma had, for years, made it a daily ritual to feed monkeys that wandered near her home. Locals pointed out that she treated them with affection, offering food and care without fail — a bond that may explain the animal's reciprocal behaviour during her final rites.

The video has since been shared extensively across platforms, drawing thousands of reactions. Many netizens described the moment as a powerful display of “unconditional love”.
