<p>Bengaluru: A 29-year-old woman died by <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/suicide">suicide</a> after her 11-month-old son drowned in a bucket of water at their house in Bengaluru's Chandra Layout.</p>.<p>The deceased are Prathibha Wali and her son, Agastya. The family, natives of Belagavi, lived in a rented house in Byraveshwaranagar on Nagarabhavi Main Road.</p>.<p>Prathibha worked as a software professional in a private company. Her husband, Mahantesh Wali, 32, works as an engineer at a private firm in Peenya. The couple married five years ago.</p>.<p>Mahantesh returned home from work on Wednesday evening to find the door locked from inside. After repeated knocks and unanswered calls, he used a spare key to enter the third-floor house.</p>.<p>He found his wife hanging from the ceiling with slash marks on her wrist. The infant was found lying unconscious on the bed.</p>.<p>A handwritten note at the spot stated that the child had fallen into a bucket of water and died, and that she was unable to save him. The note, written in English, also contained an apology to him.</p>.<p>Chandra Layout police were alerted about the incident.</p>.<p>She had been about to bathe her son and had left him near a bucket of water while she briefly stepped into another room to fetch clothes.</p>.<p>A senior police officer told <span class="italic">DH</span> that preliminary investigations suggest Prathibha, distressed over her child’s death, died by suicide.</p>.<p>On returning, she found the child with his head submerged in the bucket.</p>.<p>A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigations are on.</p>
