Namma Metro fair hike protest: Police detain Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya and Jayanagar MLA Ramamurthy

The Bangalore South MP along with Jayanagar MLA C K Ramamurthy came to RV Road Metro station with an empty trunk and were stopped at the entrance.

Bengaluru: High drama prevailed in front of R V Road Metro station when BJP's Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya along with five others were on Monday (February 9) detained by Jayanagar police for protesting against the Metro fare hike.

Surya along with Jayanagar MLA C K Ramamurthy and others came to RV Road Metro station to board Namma Metro and were stopped at the entrance.

Meanwhile police took them into custody and later were released on bail.

Surya urged those travelling in the Metro to highlight the issue.

“The state government has no money left to provide shadow cash support before the Finance Commission (FFC). That's the reason it has pushed for an increase in Metro fares,” Surya alleged.

“I was travelling in the Metro carrying an empty trunk to explain the government’s empty coffers to the public. But to ensure the truth does not reach people, we were detained,” he added.
