National rehab conference returns to Bengaluru's Nimhans after a decade

Bengaluru: The Department of Neurological Rehabilitation at Nimhans will host the 53rd Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IAPMRCON) 2025 from January 29 to February 1 at the convention centre.

Based on the theme 'Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Advancing Rehabilitation for All', the conference is being organised under the aegis of the Kaveri Association of Rehabilitation Medicine (Karnataka Chapter of IAPMR).

The event will bring together nearly 300 delegates from India and abroad to discuss advancements in rehabilitation technology and the management of conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, autism, and arthritis.

On January 30, Dr BN Gangadhar, Chairperson of the National Medical Commission, will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest, while Dr Pratima Murthy, Director of Nimhans, will serve as the guest of honour.

This marks the second time Nimhans is hosting the national conference, the first being in 2013. The event aims to foster networking among students, encourage collaborations among professionals and institutions, and highlight the role of physical medicine and rehabilitation in empowering people with disabilities, who comprise over 2.2 per cent of India’s population, according to the 2011 Census.
