<p>Bengaluru: Major P Manivannan, who holds the post of Principal Secretary in the Social Welfare Department, has been given additional charge as the commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). </p>.<p>The post will fall vacant on Saturday with the superannuation of N Jayaram. </p>.<p>Many IAS officers, including Karee Gowda and J Ravishankar, were seen as strong contenders for the BDA commissioner's post, but Manivannan’s selection comes as a surprise. His name earlier did the rounds for the BBMP chief commissioner's post, which eventually went to M Maheshwar Rao. </p>
